Official: Russia’s inflation may amount to 5.9% in 2016
MOSCOW, Jun 22 (PRIME) – Russian consumer prices may rise 5.9% in 2016, Deputy Economic Development Minister Alexei Vedev said Wednesday.
“The inflation level spurs a lot of optimism. Inflation is decreasing, and according to our estimates it will probably be at 6% this year, maybe a bit lower – 5.9%,” he said.
The Economic Development Ministry’s basic forecast says that inflation will stand at 6.5% in 2016. But Minister Alexei Ulyukayev said recently that inflation will likely not exceed 6% in 2016.
The country’s industrial output is projected to grow around 0.3% in 2016, while real wages may fall 0–0.3%, and capital investments may decrease by 2.7–3.1%, Vedev said.
The ministry expects the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) to grow 1.9–2.2% per year in 2017–2019, he also said.
